You should be able to handle FTP over SSL. Take a look at http://servicemix.goopen.org/site/ftp.html To configure the ftp client to use SSL, you need to override the FTPClientPool#createSocketClient, so that you configure the SocketClient with an SSL enabled socket Factory.
