I simply run "mvn jbi:embeddedServicemix" from the examples/basic directory as specified in the user manual. I am using the latest version at "http://people.apache.org/repo/m2-incubating-repository/org/apache/servicemix/apache-servicemix/3.0-incubating/apache-servicemix-3.0-incubating.zip";
