I have figured this out. In the JMS Flow section, it is said that "A Message Queue is used for each JBI endpoint, so multiple instances of the same named Component will have requests load balanced across them."
I have successfully modified the cluster example to run round-robin with two writer components on two SM instances. So sorry for my carelessness and thanks.
