There is an XSQL component hosted at Codehaus [1], but I have no idea
what its status is.  Else, you should use the technology you are the
more confortable with, be it groovy, jdbc.  Spring sql or orm layer
is a good way to go.
FYI, there is a very simple jdbc component that can be used [2]
