Why ?
If you send a huge messages, you should be able to ensure that it is send as
a stream
and not as a DOM document for example.  However, when you split it, you will
certainly
need to load it in memory if you want to split it (if it is an xml for
example).

If you need more fine grained control, I guess you can hack the
servicemix-ftp component
directly (though I would rather but an intermediate component that would
process the
stream and send several exchanges instead).
