Can you give an overview of the errors you are getting? Which example are you trying to get to work? Normally, all the examples should come with the source necessary to build them. Anyway, this would probably be a good occasion to get to know Maven. I was a bit reluctant about it too when I started to use ServiceMix, so I also started building things with Ant instead but the Maven tooling for ServiceMix really makes it worth the effort.
