Works good for us. But a must is using an application server. We use IBM's
Websphere.

If you are going to need ejb and plan on using Websphere, you wiil need their
Advanced Version. It's about $3000. I haven't found any down loads yet.

At this stage, I am guessing that our Intel/NT platform will not
cut-the-mustard for serving 1000 Mechanical Engineer's workstations. Thank
goodness for Java.

We use DB2 UDB and their Type 4 JDBC driver. Very strong!

We use a combination of Compuware's Preditor Editor and the JSDK and IBM's
VisualAge for Java Enterprize IDE. IMHO VAJ is the best on the market for team
projects. We tried VCafe for about 9 months. My last VCafe project reports
756 errors, produces a correct .class, won't parse the code to porduce the
applet GUI in the IDE correctly. They probably fixed this by now, but if you
have dead-lines, why waste your time.

You can't be timid about selecting theWorkstation. We are using 450MHz, with
128MB memory. VAJ will use it all if you provide it.

You probably already know that NES is no good for that.
