Hi,

I think I was missing Alvin's point:
He does not want to use JDBC to delegate
authentication, nor to run e-commerce transactions,
just wants to check (at login time) a new user's identity
against an application-level table with at least two columns:
'gameUserId' and 'gameUserPass'
(perhaps containing previously-self-registered user records).

As long there are no dozens of users logging in each minute
it is enough to use only one dedicated,
always-opened JDBC connection for this purpose.
(assuming also that retrieving a keyed record within an SQL table
is far more efficient than opening a connection)

And unless users pay money to play 'marketing games' there is little
concern about security.

Cezar.

BTW, what's 'marketing games' means?
