I am using weblogic as my servlet server and an Oracle 7.3.4 database.
I unfortunately am not an expert on databases an Oracle, in
     particular.

My servlet requests a userid/password in order to login to the
database and allow the user to retrieve invoicing data for a large
     company.

Recently, <defunct> processes are starting to show up after pressing
the submit button on my login page, which tries to varify
     userid/password against the Oracle database.

Could someone please explain to me what a defunct process is, how to
create it, how to troubleshoot for it, or what it could affect by
staying out there? In help would be appreciated.

     Thanks,

     Jaman
