Because in the world of web programming, there is no such thing as a one
size fits all solution when it comes to getting the HTML onto the
client. For quite a large number of folks, the template system might be
better. For an even larger set of folks, the idea of embedding code in
the the HTML page (a la JSP) might be better yet. Personally, as a
developer who knows what they are doing with both servlets and HTML
(I've only been writing HTML since the days of Mosaic), I prefer to use
something like an ECS or htmlKona. But that's me and not you and I'd lay
money that I'm in the minority. But I'm glad that there are people
writing tools for the minority that I'm in -- just like I'm glad that
there are people writing tools for everyone else that wants a different
approach :)
