Not only that, but at seems _all_ the text files have Unix line endings.
Even if you have Unix compatible tools, it may be still inconvenient if you
can't double-click on a file from Windows Explorer and have it display
correctly.
In addition, to make this distribution more Windows friendly, I would
suggest renaming the files:
README --> README.txt
LICENSE --> LICENSE.txt
startserver --> startserver.ksh
stopserver --> stopserver.ksh
