Hi,
First I have a related query - when you use javac -version, does this
mean that the bytecode from source using later APIs will run on earlier
JVMs??

Re. the deprecation -
As far as I can tell, the newer JVMs generally still support the
deprecated methods etc. In the past I've found which methods to replace
them with from the API documentation (use the alphabetical Index!), but
checking the ones you mention below

toLocaleString() - Method in class java.util.Date
Deprecated. As of JDK version 1.1, replaced by DateFormat.format(Date
date).
OK.

PrintStream - I can find no mention of deprecation for this one in the
1.2 API doc.
Which constructor are you using in your code?

Cheers,
Danny.
