While this is not strictly a servlet related question, servlets are what we do these days, so... We just upgraded our Solaris 2.6 machine to Solaris JDK 1.2.1 (including patches) and began recompiling our projects. We are using JRunpro 2.3 as the servlet engine, pointed to the JDK 1.2.1. We've found that a project that used to compile in 10 minutes now takes about two hours! Sometimes page compiles under JRun time out they take so long. We did download Jikes compiler and that is faster. However, for page compilation it is not the best as it does not always report errors in pages, instead it hangs and times out. The normal javac works properly in this case. Has anyone else experienced this dramatic slow down in compilation of servlets/jsp pages on Solaris, any ideas as to what the problems might be?
