I get the feeling that it's a general policy to create their own version
of any nice looking technology - I believe they've been trying to do
their own mp3 recently.
If they were to put a nice JVM/servlet engine in their OSes they would
certainly make themselves more popular, but they're already up in the
market with stuff like ASPs.
In any case, every time anything is added to MS OSes it causes extra
crashes, that of course are never to do with the OS of course, in spite
of the extra OS bug fixes that follow.
