If you want to debug servlets in an IDE, have a look at VisualAge for Java from
IBM. Add the downloadable Professional Update for the professional edition or
the Enterprise Update for the Enterprise edition. THese include the WebSphere
test environment, which works even if you do not have WebSphere. Run the servlet
through the browser and, if a breakboint is set or an uncaught exception occurs,
up pops the VAJ debugger. The VAJ IDE provides full debugging for servlet
classes, including the ability to change the code while it is running. Nice JSP
monitor too.
