Try the "select ... for update" oracle statement, followed by your insert.

Hello,

I have a servlet which does an insert into an oracle database using a JDBC
connection. It works fine but fails(data integrity) for unique values on a
column because of the fact that two or more clients try to do an insert at the
same time. I know that there is something that can be done with threading which
will make sure that the requests fall in a queue and will not try data
manipulation at the same time. Can somebody give me more clues or be more
specific about what I need to do with regard to this issue?

Thanks for your time and kind attention.

Rajeev
