Ignoring, for the moment, the ethical and/or moral questions about running a
server process on a client's machine ("Hmm--how come every time I visit that
web page, my CPU usage suddenly redlines?"), I would think the biggest
problem you'll have is that while the servlet is processing, the client
hasn't received the applet yet. Once the client's received the applet, the
servlet is finished (unless it spun off a thread), and the client is free to
move over to a new page, thus invalidating the applet and shutting your
"server" down.
<Opinion>
Why on *earth* would to do this? I'm baffled

Subject: Can applet be server?
