Whe have a problem where the data on the server is available through a
series of COM objects we need to talk to a client through a firewall.
Any experience doing this - what are my options
I have looked at using the Microsoft VM and Routines from NevaObject
but would like to know other options - especially in the area of how the
client
talks to the server - i.e. can I get sockets, RMI, Corba through the
firewall
Hi,
There are a variety of products that will ease your pain. I believe IBM have
one
and PowerSoft certainly do. I am sure there are many other but I only know
about
Jaguar CTS from Powersoft ( www.powersoft.com/products/application_tools )
for sure.
Essentially Jaguar CTS is a backend that amongst other things allows CORBA,
COM, RMI Java Objects etc to all run under the same roof AND allow you to
talk
to them without having to worry about what it is your are talking to. At
least
thats what they claim anyway.
I would suggest you look there to see if that helps
