You're going to have a hard time getting jdk1.2 from blackdown.org to work.
I never had any luck with it(Red Hat 6.0). jdk1.1.7 did work great though.
IBM also released a JDK for
linux(http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/linuxjvm).
