I have several users that will be communicating (sending e-mail via
servlets) via my site. How does one make these fancy email messages that
Outlook uses where they have their own custom background as embedded .jpg's
etc? Putting in references such as http://www.mysite.com/mypicture.jpg
works fine if the user is attached to the Internet, but most people read
their mail off-line. The result is that you see the frame, but no picture.
Using Multipart as per examples renders the following results: In MS
Outlook it shows the html and then the text as an attachment. In text-only
email readers such as pine (Linux / UNIX), you have to actually save the
message to a file to read it either the Text or HTML part of it.
If one could embed .jpg's in your message, it would be great for sending
e-mails with images and be sure that they will be displayed irrespective of
whether the receiver is on-line or not. Many sites rely on advertising for
funding their enterprises. If e-mails (NOT SPAM) could be sent using
embedded images this would expand this avenue of funding.
Has anyone achieved this? If so, a code snippet would be most appreciated.
