I agree with you that an analogous command in Java would be a useful tool,
especially for beginning servlet developers. I don't think you've
considered all the issues (java is not a scipting language, after all), but
there's surely more than one way to skin a cat. I invite you to come up
with a class that does what you propose. Do you think you can do it? I
would be a service to the java community and maybe if it was good enough you
could get people to send you $5 for it. I would. At the very least, you'll
be a better developer for it and perhaps come to a better appreciation for
template systems.
