By far the best resource I've found is the JDK 1.2 documentation bundle, which
includes JavaDoc documentation for all of the standard classes.  Since it is
updated when the JDK is, you can count on it being pretty complete :-)

While I'm developing, I always have a browser window opened to this -- plus a
separate window to the Servlet API if I'm developing servlets, and so on for
other packages.  You can browse online, or download it, off JavaSoft's web
site, on the same page you grab the JDK from.  The new framed presentation of
JavaDoc in JDK 1.2 is *much* more useful than the old style -- I cannot
imagine ever looking up stuff like this in a book again.
