The trouble is, unless you're using JDBC 2, there isn't a way to roll
backwards through the RS.
It seems to me you're doing everything correctly.
I wrote a class some time ago, to mainpulate resultsets. It worked by
caching the entire resultset and allowing the user to select which row
was required. It also had the concept of a current row.
This worked quite well for small RS but obviously large ones more
more of a pain.
