Yeah it is very much possible. U may start a thread in the same code or
instantiate a class that implements runnable.

Subject: Runnable via servlets

Is it possible to start a stand-alone from a servlet or to create a runnable
object inside a servlet? (I have a server application that uses Threads and
disk access, and I would like to migrate it to an application server and
implement facilities like start/stop from distance).

        Thank you!
