I have JDK 1.2 ("java2" ?) and the JSDK.
I created a servlet, ran it on the "servlet runner"
and then stuck it onto the host I plan to use.
No joy.

Turns out that 1.2 JDK for linux is not stable yet so my host is sticking
with 1.1. for now. (which sounds believable)

OK, I'll go back to JDK 1.1.x (easy enough).

Is that all I have to do ?
If I keep the latest JRE and the latest JSDK, but go back to JDK1.1.x, will
the servlets I then develop and compile
- run OK with my latest JSDK servlet runner
- run OK in my JRE that came with JDK1.2
- run OK on the host that has JDK 1.1 ?

Thanks all
