I haven't tested it against HotSpot myself, but result tests I've seen
(albeit from IBM, but done fairly, it seems!) show IBM's JVM with JIT to be
faster on VolanoMark tests (as well as all others, to be honest). Their
1.1.7 was already the winner in the Java Performance Report, and 1.1.8 is
rather faster.
