PC Magazine ran some performance tests last May. While Apache on Windows
wasn't tested, IIS performed significantly better than Apache (Stronghold)
on Linux or Solaris (and Apache on Windows is slower than Apache on UNIX):

Our internal performance tests of ServletExec show that, when running with
ServletExec, Apache/Windows is the slowest by far on an x86 machine (in
order fastest to slowest: IIS/Windows, NES/Windows, Apache/Linux,
Apache/Windows).

Considering the following warning displayed by the Apache/Windows installer,
and the relatively poor performance of Apache/Windows, it would be difficult
to recommend using Apache on Windows as a production server as an
alternative to IIS.

WARNING: The Win32 release of Apache should still
be considered beta quality code. It does not meet
the normal standards of stability and security
that Unix releases do. There are numerous known
bugs and inconsistencies. There is also a much
greater chance of security holes being present in
   the Win32 version of Apache.
