Hello, I am using servlets in my website to do some https calls and other stuff. I want to know whether user is available still or not i.e. i want to check whether the user is still connected to my site or whether he is timed out or disconnected from the net. How can i acieve this..? Now there are two ways i can think of. Can i have a applet telling my servlet whether it(and hence the user) is available or not..? or can i have a thread in the servlet which keeps on pinging the client(user) to check whether he is connected or not..? Is any of these possible..? How? Any sample code..? Still another question is if i make a "https" call in my servlet.. can i assume it is secure ? Please help all u Java Gurus.
