Michael -
You may want to change this:
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
to this:
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver").newInstance();
Here's a link to a post where a fellow was having a similar problem
loading the type 4 JDBC driver for MySQL. Good luck!

Subject: Load DB Error
When I connect to a DB via the following command:
...
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
...
I've got this error: "jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver not found"
Does anybody knows what am I missing here?
