Bruce,

Attached is the questionnaire for your JSE project. It is pretty cool!

2. The Java Servlet Editor

        a) How much have you used the software? (please check one)

[ ] run through the wizard once
[X] used it two to four times
[ ] used it five times or more

        b) Briefly describe the sort of tasks you carried out: I used the wizard to
create a servlet that connected to an existing ODBC DSN for an Oracle database. I
tried to compile the servlet but received an error on the following line:
out.println("<TABLE CELLPADDING= "5">"); I replaced the "5" with '5' and it compiled
ok. I started my servlet server on my local PC (I am using jswdk-1.0.1 and jdk1.2.2)
and ran the newly born servlet. It connected to the DB and retrieved and displayed
the data. Pretty cool.

        c) Did you find the help and readme files adequate to answer any questions you
had?
                no help [] [] [X] [] [] very helpful

        d) If you used the generated servlet without modifications, did it compile
properly the first time?
If not, what problems did you encounter? No, see b above.

        e) Did the generated servlet meet your expectations?
                expected more [] [] [X] [] [] exceeded expectations

        f) Was the interface clear and intuitive?
                non-intuitive [] [X] [] [] [] intuitive

        g) Were the wizard steps clear?
                unclear [] [] [X] [] [] clear

        h) Which wizard steps (if any) were unclear? (tick as many as apply)
                [ ] Wizard start
                [ ] Odbc Wizard
                [ ] Driver Wizard
                [ ] Connection Wizard
                [X] Table Wizard
                [X] Field Wizard
                [X] Organisation Wizard

        i) Do you think the programme saved you time and effort?
                no time [] [] [X] [] [] lots of time

        j) Would you use the programme again in the future?
                never [] [] [X] [] [] always

        k) Any other comments about the Java Servlet Editor.

Maybe it's the nature of JAVA & Swing, but the JSE program loaded and ran really slow
(I use a PII 266MHz with 32MB RAM).

I am still a little unsure what the HTML tab is for (or at least the contents of the
DemoJSP.jsp). Was it just for illustration? How do you run a jsp file? Do you have
to have a special server like for Microsoft's asp files?

It seemed like File Save and File Save As do the same thing. That is, after I had
already saved my java file the first time with File Save As, I made some changes and
then tried to use File Save. The navigation dialog for File Save As came up and I had
to go to my folder and click on the original java file to save it again.

You probably should put more instructions on how to actually test the servlet. That
is, how to compile, and run it.

Overall, though, I'd say it is quite an accomplishment as a project at a University.
Good work!
