you have 3 options:
1) don't use swing in an applet,
it isn't suitable for 'casual' internet
users - the download is too big.
2) use the inbuilt jvm in ns 4.5
and ie 4 and add the jdk 1.1
compliant metal.jar to the
archive tag in your html. That's
a 600k download, but on a LAN or
cable modem that is ok. You pay
the price every time the applet starts.(modulo caches). With this
you can also integrate with Javascript etc.
3) use the plugin.
