Sorry, off subject - ( Date format for MSSQL)

Does anyone know of an easy way to convert java.util.getDate() into something useful which I can use to search through a MSSQL DB. I find it's a real pain in the butt to convert a regular date format to the required escape format ( {d '2000-12-15'} ) required to search through the DB.   Thanks.   John D.
