I can qualify this a little more.
On the + side
- JRun has a nice GUI installer thing
- JRun usually implements new Servlet API features, etc quickly
- JRun runs on >1 server type (not just Apache)
On the - side,
- JRun files are poorly (dis)organised and the documentation is awful - its
typical "if you look on this screen you will see these fields, but we're not
going to tell you what they actually do" garbage.
- JRun is not known for it's stability - often times they release code
before it is ready for "prime-time". Saying that, later versions seem to be
more stable than say 6 months ago
- JRun is not coded especially for Apache, which means theoretically JServ
could be faster...
I've never installed JServ, but I can imagine for someone who could do
without a GUI installer, there's no way it could be worse than JRun for
configuring and managing! :-)
