Can we put the flame-throwers and fire-retardant clothing away?

This forum is a great place to share ideas related to our subject. It is
undermined when we stray off course -- particularly with nasty
interjections. It is best if postings are relevant to the subject,
otherwise good postings are hard to find.

Not everyone will know what other subject forums exist and whether all
subscribers will consider an issue to fall within the subject area.
Regardless, it is probably better to get a potentially 'irrelevant' posting
than to risk scaring away a definitely 'relevant' posting. Some people
might belong to many forums and might not always be certain to which they
are posting (it happens).

People, like water or electricity, seem inclined to take the path of least
resistance in achieving their goals. Those who can should show others the
way -- even if that means directing people to other subject forums better
suited to a posted question or to the archives where a subject has already
been well addressed.

The Calendar Date Exchange, despite personal remarks, has at least brought
to our attention the need to show restraint and respect in making a posting.
Good suggestions about other resources have also been made. And for that we
should be grateful. There is fascinating, well-paying, work ahead of us.

Happy developing (and Thanksgiving, my American cousins),

David Hildebrandt
