    Is the error still happening even after you remove the global variable?
    Servlets are basically multi-threaded unless you derive ur servlet class
from a singlethread'd Servlet class. I am not sure how the Java web server
and Web-logic would hande it (differenty), but I had the same problem when
using JRun. Though i wasnot getting the content-length error, after doing a
refresh, thehtml file was displayed properly.
