Yes, Through RMI firewalls can be bypassed ! this is true !
U need to send the  remote object to absolete address of network m/c.

Pure JDBC, because u can achive O.S. independent functionality.
There are many articles that prove that Pure JDBC is powerfull.
Although, u have to loose some speed.
