Hi,
I was thinking of developing an intranet site using Apache 1.3.9 and JServ 1.0 and some servlets. The basic functionality is that I want only registered users to walk through my site which have a few confidential info. I was JdbcOdbcDriver as I could find no other driver (without its own webserver) to connect to Access'97 which is where I have my user list.
While going through the archives I found a mail from Craig R. McClanahan saying that JdbcOdbcDriver does not support multithreading...Is this true??? What will happen if more than one person tries to login at the same time??? Kindly help me out on this as it is crucial to my going ahead with this projet. Also as an alternative if I use a flat file (say members.txt in my document root and write and read from this file using FileReader and FileWriter objects will I be able to overcome this limitation. Please keep in mind that there is no funding for this project as it is a self initiative and hence I would not be able to afford a third party Jdbc Driver (I do have IDS Driver but then it's setup requires that its webserver also be in place..can I just use the class files that it provides???)
Thanks k Regards
