Just like java.exe, javaw is used to start the java VM. The only difference
between javaw.exe and java.exe is that javaw suppresses the console window.
Most Java programs for windows will install a Start-menu icon that uses
javaw.exe to start the Java app so that no console window appears on the
screen when java is launched.
