The Palm VII has a sort of psuedo-web-surfing capability, but it's
extremely limited, and actually uses a compressed form of HTTP; the docs
for doing it are on the Palm website. (Personally, I was really
discouraged by their approach to the whole thing--it really locks out
doing just generic "web browsing" over the wireless connection. The
graphics & stuff found on most web pages could have been dealt with in the
same manner as how the "lynx" browser under *nix takes care of it, IMHO.)

The Palm also, while it's attached to the cradle or to a modem, has a
standard TCP/IP stack for straight sockets coding. See the Palm OS docs
(again, the website) for details. It's fairly trivial, esp. if you use KVM
(the Sun JVM for the Palm), to write code that communicates from the Palm,
over a socket, to an HTTP server/servlet.

You definitely want to pick up the O'Reilly Palm Programming book if you
want to pursue this idea further.
