Thanks everyone for your replies.  They have been very helpful.  I am trying to
upload the file from the end-users pc, once they have specified which one they
want to send, so I guess the answer to whether trying to read in the file from
the web or disc would be "the web".  Since this is my very first java
program(not to mention being a servlet), I am coding a piece at a time, testing
and then adding more components to it.  Do you have any suggestions on how to
upload the file over the web?
