Nitin,

I developed a chat server for a commercial project.
After looking at the "demo chat" apps available for
RMI, JavaSpaces, JINI, socket servers, servlets
I settled on a servlet based app.

Jason Hunter's "Servlet Programming" book includes
a Java servlet example. I used the approach that his
MessageSource and MessageSink classes use as
the basis for my app.

I can't share source but would be happy to discuss
architectural choices.
