I am having difficulties getting environment variables from within a
servlet. I have compiled in an ldap authorization module into Apache
(1.3.12). The user name is appropriately stored into the
CGI environment variable REMOTE_USER but a call to
HttpServletRequest.getRemoteUser() returns null. So, basically, it
appears that my servlet does not have access to the same information as
CGI (although getRemoteUser is supposed to return the CGI variable
REMOTE_USER). Does anyone understand what is happening?

Thanks,
