OK.. But what if the original poster wanted to have an effect similar to
that achieved e.g. by Metacrawler when submitting a search? That is,
sending first the number of hits from different databases, and then the
grouped results so that the user won't be staring blank or experiencing a
'hick-up' type of delivery?

I presume this needs a complicated combination of threads and redirects,
to achieve maximum reply speed. Has anybody done it?
