I just can tell you from one experience and that's with Apache Jserv.
It's free, it works best with Apache. I can't say anything about speed,
because I have not seen any comparisons.
At the moment, I am also testing IBM Websphere. If I get it working, I
will make some test, with Apache JMeter and mail you the results.
