You r trying to connect to a remote database through odbc. For this purpose you
should have a dsn configured with the remote database and on your side u have to
write just
jdbc:odbc:dsnName

It may be more helpful if u plz mention the type of the remote database.
In case of using Thin jdbc drivers u can connect to the remote database by
assigning the remote host in the URL String.
