i think there are no standard mime types to represent serailised objects.
But that dosen't prevent you from sending serailised objects.
A content type acts solely as an indication to the client of how to handle
or display the response.
for eg:
if your client is an applet and it already knows that it is receiving a
serialised object(that is you have coded it like that) then it works fine.
Otherwise you have to create a custom mime type suiting your application,
but in won't serve all generic clients because there is no standard for
this.
