Not with Netscape cookies (the current de-facto standard).

Netscape cookies are tied to the concept of domain names.

If you are using IP addresses for your servlets you will be in
trouble.

You could do 2 things:

1. setup a virtual IP address which would cover both servers (but
this has obvious problems).
2. setup a domain name for the name-less servers

option 2. is really the only practical one.


I'm no cookie expert but I'm fairly sure that a cookie cares only
about the hostname, I don't think either side will do a DNS lookup for
the name - so as long as you specify the domain for the host correctly
it will work.
