If you don't want the servlet to be running after your specific client/browser
sesion is done with,
then you are probably better off with using the old fashioned cgi program.
The advantages of Servlets over cgi programs are better response time due to the
fact that the time
taken to load the servlet happens at server start time and not when the servlet
is invoked resulting in a better
response time for the user.
as for a complex example, sorry i don't have one lying around. you could try a
book on servlet or
browse the net for it.
