[ ... ] Along the "common courtesy" lines, I'd add that people should try checking out servlet books, online tutorials/faqs (Sun has one), and other online resources. There are *many* out there, some very easy to find (like Sun's tutorial), and there's really no excuse for not having tried them before asking a basic question here on the list. To me, these resources are even more obvious and easy to find than the list archives.
