Hi All,
I'm new to this group but I guess I'll put forward what I know.
The first time the servlet loads it has some initialization tasks(May be
establishing a connection to a database or so...as in your(shivashis) case).
This takes some overhead.
>From the moment the first instance of the servlet is created, it is
persistent(Holds all the initialization parameters-DB connections etc.,) and
can handle the subsequent requests it gets.
Please clarify/object/confirm
Rajah...

Subject: Execution time for a servlet
Hi
I am using a servlet to fetch data from MS Access database and display it to
the
browser. On the first invocation of the servlet, the time taken is around
6secs.
If the servlet is invoked again, the time redues to around 2 to 3 seconds. I
am
running the servlet on Windows 95.
Could someone explain me the reason for the different values of the
servlet's
execution time.
Thanks
Shivashis
